A center-based classroom is a research-based hands-on learning approach where teachers guide and support children as they explore different activity stations. Children rotate in small groups through centers like STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math), Building Blocks, Dramatic Play, and Sensory Play on a schedule, experiencing a variety of activities that support their growth. In a Peacock Learning Academy classroom, you might see some children exploring stations independently, while others participate in teacher-led small group activities.
This structure helps children develop skills like problem-solving, time management, and self-regulation while encouraging independence. A center-based classroom also promotes social growth as children build skills like sharing, cooperation, and turn-taking through play. With support from our experienced teachers, they feel confident to take risks, learn from mistakes, and grow.
